OBJECTIVE: TO REVEAL THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING FILLED WITH GOD’S WORD
MATERIAL: A STYROFOAM BALL, CHALK, AN EMPTY MEDICINE BOTTLE, A SPONGE, AND A BOWL OF
WATER

Fill a bowl with water.

Explain that the water represents the Word of God and that the objects represent us.

Then, someone dips the styrofoam ball into the water and observes what happens. Next, dip the chalk, then the medicine bottle, and finally the sponge.

Reflect on the following questions:

  • How does God’s Word act in my life?
  • Am I acting like the styrofoam, which absorbs nothing and neither sinks nor deepens?
  • Or am I acting like the chalk, which holds the water for itself without sharing with anyone?
  • Or am I like the medicine bottle, which has water to give to others but keeps none for itself?
  • Or am I like the sponge, absorbing the water well and still retaining water even when squeezed?
