Dynamic – NAME AND MEANING
OBJECTIVE: TO SHARE THE MEANING OF EACH PARTICIPANT’S NAME
MATERIAL: PAPER AND PENCIL
Beforehand, research the meaning of each participant’s name online.
Prepare puzzle-like cards, with one part showing the name and the other part showing the meaning.
Distribute two parts to each participant: it can be their own name or someone else’s, and always mismatched with the meaning.
Instruct participants to walk around the room, looking for the correct pairs of name and meaning with their peers, assembling each puzzle on a table or on the floor as they find the matches, until all names are completed.
Each participant should then take their own name with the correct meaning and, one by one, read their name and its meaning aloud to the group.
You can then lead a discussion with the participants:
- Who was surprised by the meaning of their name? Why?
- Who started to like their name more after learning its meaning?
- Why is our name important to us?
